Speed Dating Mechanism Guide
What is the Speed Dating Mechanism?
The Speed Dating Mechanism is a core feature of the Youth Match Point platform designed to help young people and youth workers/mentors connect quickly and meaningfully.
It uses a matching algorithm to calculate compatibility between users based on their profile data, interests, skills, goals, and engagement preferences.
Each user’s profile displays a Match Percentage (%), showing how well two members align — making it easier to start conversations, collaborations, or mentorships.
How It Works
Complete Your Profile
Go to Profile → Edit and fill in all fields (Areas of Interest, Goals, Skills, Mentorship Preferences, etc.).
The more complete your profile, the more accurate your matching results.
Matching Algorithm
The platform analyses your information and compares it with others.
A Match Score (%) is displayed when viewing another member’s profile.
Viewing Matches
Go to Connections → % Calculate Match to see your compatibility with other users.
You can also view your Match Percentage directly on user profiles.
Connecting with Others
Click “Connect” to send a request.
Once connected, you can:
Chat directly via private messages.
Follow their activities.
Join or create groups together.
Organize mentoring sessions or collaborative meetings (including via Zoom).
Purpose of the Mechanism
The Speed Dating function supports:
Quick networking between young people and mentors.
Project incubation – finding peers with complementary skills to co-create initiatives.
Mentorship matching – linking youth with experienced youth workers for guidance.
