The project addresses the lack of teacher knowledge and effective methodologies for educating children with SLD.
OBJECTIVES
- Enhance the educational experience for children with specific learning disabilities.
- Develop a digital handbook to provide theoretical knowledge for teachers.
- Create an e-learning platform with interactive digital content to support cognitive, language, and reading skills.
- Address the lack of effective teaching methodologies for children with SLD.
CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND
Solution4SLD was developed in Lithuania, Malta, and Bulgaria to address the issue of inadequate inclusion of children with specific learning disabilities in mainstream education. Through interviews and surveys, it was found that teachers lacked sufficient knowledge about these disabilities and effective teaching methods.
IMPLEMENTATION: ACTIVITIES AND METHODOLOGIES
The project involved the development of a platform with digital educational content and interactive task, as well as the creation of a comprehensive handbook for teachers.
It utilized innovative methodologies by integrating digital templates and worksheets with interactive exercises.
Resources needed include financial investments for technology development, human resources comprising educators, researchers, and technical experts, and technical resources for platform creation and content development.
Primary and secondary schools, educational authorities, and associate partners from Lithuania, Malta, and Bulgaria contributed through collaboration and feedback, ensuring the project’s relevance and effectiveness.
PROJECT OUTCOMES & LESSONS LEARNED
It has developed an e-learning platform with 72 digital templates, worksheets, and 18 interactive tasks to aid children with SLD. It also created a comprehensive digital handbook for teachers.
Continuous training and updated methodologies for educators are important, and improving user feedback mechanisms could enhance the platform’s usability and effectiveness.
IMPACT
Solution4SLD improved inclusion for children with SLD by providing teachers with effective tools and methodologies, enhancing student support and academic performance.
Youth tested interactive tasks and digital templates, offering feedback to ensure these resources met their needs, which contributed to the project’s success.
